Tourist Visas for Visiting Canada
A Visitor Visa, also classified as a Temporary Resident Visa, allows you to visit Canada as a tourist or to reunite with family.
A Visitor Visa is stamped onto your passport when entering Canada indicating that you are able to visit.
The duration of stay:
The majority of visitors can stay for up to (6) months. When you arrive at the port-of-entry, the border services officer will decide if you can stay for less or more than six (6) months. Depending on your nationality and which country you plan to come from, you may need a Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization.
Factors that will be considered when you apply for a Visitor Visa:
- You must have a valid travel document; foreign passport
- must be in good health
- must NOT be inadmissible based on criminality and must not have any immigration evictions
- must address your ties to your home country to prove to the immigration officer that you will return to your home country
Some people are not allowed to enter Canada and those people are:
– Anyone involved in Criminal Activity, Human Rights violations, and organized crime.
Government Fee for Visitor Visa:
- $100.00 per applicant
- $500.00 for a family of five (5) people or more
Other requirements when applying for a Visitor Visa:
- You must write a “purpose of visit” letter indicating why you are visiting Canada
- If you are visiting a family member, a “letter of Invitation” must be written by them
- You must prove your relationship with the family member if you are visiting a family member
- You must show that you have enough funds in your bank account for the duration of your stay in Canada
